Cryosurgery

Cryosurgery is the use of extreme cold to destroy abnormal or diseased tissue. Cryosurgery is used to treat many diseases and disorders, especially skin conditions. It is a relatively painless procedure, but the treatment is always done under anesthesia. This may be either a local anesthetic with sedation or more commonly a general anesthetic. The intense cold also kills bacteria and germs, which is beneficial when dealing with infected tissue. In more serious or advanced conditions, multiple cryosurgery treatments may be required.
